Joseph Smith and others were jailed
for about a year. There were no
doors or windows, so it was dark all
the time. This is where Joseph penned
some of my favorite scriptures. Joseph
prayed to the Lord, "O God, where
art Thou...how long shall Thy hand
be stayed?" and the Lord answered,
"My son, peace be unto thy soul;
thine adversity and thine afflictions
shall be but a small moment; And
then, if thou endure it well, God
shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt
triumph over all thy foes."
